US FDIC to issue mid-size bank proposal aimed at improving risk sensitivity in lending

By Neil Roland ( March 11, 2026, 19:19 GMT | Insight) -- Along with the Basel III capital proposal for large banks, the US Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. plans to issue this month a proposal for mid-size banks aimed at improving risk sensitivity in lending for services such as mortgages as well as consumer and corporate lending, Chair Travis Hill said. Separately, Hill said the agency plans to propose at some point that stablecoins subject to the GENIUS Act not be eligible for pass-through insurance – i.e. a method of insuring depositors whose funds are held at an FDIC-insured bank through a third party such as a broker, law firm or PayPal.Along with the Basel III capital proposal for large banks, the US Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. plans to issue this month a proposal for mid-size banks aimed at improving risk sensitivity in lending for services such as mortgages as well as consumer and corporate lending, Chair Travis Hill said....
