By Neil Roland ( March 5, 2026, 22:44 GMT | Insight) -- A nonpartisan research firm has stepped into a crossfire between some senators and US Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins over the agency’s enforcement data, with information backing up the Democratic senators. Cornerstone Research, an economic and financial consulting firm, released reports Thursday showing that SEC actions against accounting and auditing firms fell in 2025 to nine-year lows.
