( October 20, 2026, 01:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Monday in documents submitted to a Finance Ministry advisory panel that it plans to seek a total of 400 billion yen (around $2.5 billion) in additional government investment in government-backed chipmaker Rapidus over three fiscal years starting in 2027. The proposed funding, comprising 150 billion yen each in fiscal 2027 and 2028 and 100 billion yen in fiscal 2029, is intended to strengthen Rapidus' equity base to help it secure 2 trillion yen in private loans, partly backed by government debt guarantees, as it prepares to begin mass production of 2-nanometer chips in the second half of fiscal 2027.Statement is attached (in Japanese)....
