EU, China agree deal on hybrid vehicle trade, pledge export-control cooperation

( October 9, 2026, 13:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU and China have reached an understanding on hybrid vehicle trade and agreed to improve export-control transparency, according to a joint statement following talks in Beijing on Oct. 8-9 between EU trade chief Maroš Šefčovič and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao. China will continue facilitating rare-earth and permanent-magnet export licenses, while the EU will facilitate priority dual-use licenses to China.
