Indonesia pushes to close ASEAN-Canada FTA gaps by November
( September 24, 2026, 04:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia is urging ASEAN and Canada to resolve remaining free-trade negotiating issues by early November, with market-access commitments, parts of the agreement's text, product-specific rules of origin and cross-sector issues still outstanding, the Trade Ministry said Wednesday. The negotiating committee is due to meet again in October as the two sides work toward announcing the substantial conclusion of negotiations in 2026. Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri called for flexibility and a pragmatic approach to complete the remaining work before the 49th ASEAN Summit. Canadian International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu also backed accelerating the talks and maintaining momentum toward a substantial conclusion this year.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
