One-year fertilizer import tariff suspension endorsed by EU countries
( May 22, 2026, 09:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Customs tariffs on EU imports of nitrogen-based fertilizers used in agricultural production will be suspended for one year to lower costs for farmers and the industry, the Council of the EU, the body representing the bloc’s governments, has said. The measure covering products including urea and ammonia will save an estimated €60 million in import duties, and will not apply to products imported from Russia or Belarus due to their part in the war in Ukraine.Full statement follows....
