Member states to give go-ahead to EU-US critical minerals strategy on Monday

By Cynthia Kroet ( April 17, 2026, 14:41 GMT | Insight) -- The 27 EU member states are expected to give their formal go-ahead to an EU-US critical minerals strategy, aimed at reducing dependence on China and setting price floors, next Monday, MLex has learned. The conclusion of the memorandum of understanding coincides with a planned visit by EU trade chief Maroš Šefčovič to Washington on April 23 and 24, where he is expected to discuss the ongoing negotiations on the EU-US trade deal, which is awaiting confirmation from the bloc.EU countries are expected to give their formal go-ahead to a critical minerals strategy with the US next Monday, with the aim to reduce dependency on China and set price floors, MLex has learned....
