Indonesia eyes possible extension of measures on evaporator-product imports

( April 9, 2026, 08:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indonesian ministry of trade said the trade safeguards committee, or KPPI, has started investigation into a ossible extension of trade-safeguard measures on imported roll-bond and fin evaporator products, which are mostly used in manufacturing of refrigerators and air conditioners. In a statement Wednesday, the trade ministry said the investigation is being conducted in response to the request of PT Fujisei Metal Indonesia, an evaporator manufacturer. The Head of KPPI Juli Guastria Silalahi said based on the initial evidence, the KPPI found indications of “serious losses or threats of serious losses” suffered by the company. The current imported duties on the imported products will expire in September this year. The trade ministry said current evaporator-product imports are dominated by imports from China.Full statement follows (in Indonesian)....
