Trump signs order imposing 10 percent global tariff, includes threat of more action

( February 21, 2026, 13:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary:  President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 10 percent global tariff under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows for duties of up to 15 percent for 150 days. Trump is imposing the duties for 150 days, starting Feb. 24.  Certain exemptions are still in place, such as critical minerals and agricultural goods, qualifying United States-Mexico-Canada agreement goods and those under the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement. Trump also directed officials to investigate countries for potential further trade action. The order replaces "reciprocal" tariff rates imposed under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The Supreme Court of the United States struck down the use of IEEPA for tariffs on Friday.Executive order below:...
