Japan discloses first US investment projects under trade accord

( February 18, 2026, 07:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan and the US agreed on Japan’s first set of strategic investments in the US under a $550 billion investment commitment from Japan, reached by the two countries in July. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the three projects include an oil and gas project in Texas, a power generation project in Ohio and a critical minerals project in Georgia. Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Wednesday the infrastructure project to export US crude oil is estimated at $2.1 billion.
