USTR’s Greer tells Congress that US will keep ‘options open’ in USMCA review

( December 18, 2025, 17:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer this week told the Senate Finance Committee and House Ways and Means Committee in a closed session that the Trump administration will keep “options open” in the upcoming review next year of the United States-Mexico-Canada agreement. Greer said the USMCA “has been successful to a certain degree and maintains broad support” but is not “an unqualified success,” pointing to concerns with Mexican labor rights, the US trade deficit with Canada and Mexico, and disputes over energy, dairy, technology and other areas. Greer said the US will examine issues related to rules of origin, critical minerals and economic security alignment.Statement attached....
