China to reinstate export licenses for 300 steel products beginning 2026

( December 15, 2025, 03:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs said on Friday that beginning Jan. 1, 2026, 300 designated steel products will be added to the export-license catalog, marking the first reintroduction of steel export licensing in 16 years since the system was abolished in 2009. Companies exporting these products will be required to obtain licenses based on signed contracts and product-quality certificates, with approvals issued either by the ministry itself or by provincial and selected vice-provincial commerce departments under delegated authority.The statement follows and the catalog is attached....
