Indonesia studies possible extension of safeguard measures on yarn imports

( December 2, 2025, 04:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia’s Trade Safeguards Committee, or KPPI, said Monday that it began an investigation on Nov. 25 into whether to extend safeguard measures on imported yarn products, other than sewing thread, made from synthetic and artificial staple fibers. The investigation follows a request filed by the Indonesian Textile Association, or API, which submitted evidence indicating that domestic producers of yarn made from synthetic and artificial staple fibers are still facing “serious losses or the threat of serious losses.” China dominates yarn product imports in the country, accounting for 85.11 percent of the total, followed by Vietnam with 10.70 percent and other countries with 4.19 percent.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
