Indonesia banks on EU trade deal to boost exports, jobs after nine years of talks

The deal will remove tariffs on more than 98 percent of tariff lines and give Indonesian goods duty-free access to over 90 percent of the EU market once ratified, Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto said, adding that implementation is targeted for Jan. 1, 2027.Indonesia expects a sweeping free trade deal with the European Union to lift its exports, create jobs and strengthen its role in global supply chains, after the two sides concluded nearly a decade of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or CEPA....
