( September 8, 2025, 21:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A coalition of 12 Democrat-led states filed a brief to the Supreme Court of the United States agreeing with the Trump administration's request for an expedited timeline in a case challenging the president's authority to invoke emergency powers to impose sweeping tariffs. The brief reiterates arguments that the tariffs are illegal, urging the Supreme Court to uphold the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit's ruling mostly against the Trump administration last month. The coalition, along with five US small businesses, sued in the original case against the government at the Court of International Trade, which also declared Trump's tariffs illegal.See attached brief....
