US Commerce extends window for auto tariff offsets

( June 12, 2025, 16:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: The US Commerce Department extended the window for automakers to qualify for an offset from a 25 percent tariff on cars and car parts. The offset is available for domestic final assembly of cars between April 3, 2025, and April 30, 2027, but Commerce said autos assembled between those dates can continue to qualify beyond that period "until the full approved import adjustment offset amount is exhausted." The offset will not be available for cars assembled after April 30, 2027. Public inspection notice in the Federal Register attached....
