Asean-EU trade talks accelerating under Poland's EU presidency, Malaysia's PM says

( June 10, 2025, 08:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Free-trade talks between the EU and Asean as well as between the EU and Malaysia have been on a fast track under Poland's EU presidency, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said during a joint press conference today with Polish President Andrzej Duda, who is in Malaysia for a state visit. Anwar said that as Malaysia is also chair of Asean now, the two leaders discussed a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU as part of the negotiations. Though discussions on a free-trade agreement between the two blocs has been protracted for a number of years, mainly due to the different priorities of EU, Anwar said he has seen an accelerated process over the last few months. The joint statement is attached....
