Commerce finds China subsidized southeastern Asian solar cell manufacturers

By Zack Budryk ( April 23, 2025, 16:02 GMT | Insight) -- The US Commerce Department made a final affirmative determination on anti-dumping and countervailing duties for solar panel cells from four southeast Asian nations, saying the imports are being dumped into the US market and are receiving countervailable subsidies. The department made the determination for two Cambodian, six Malaysian, three Thai and 11 Vietnamese manufacturers.  The Commerce investigation specifically identified the Chinese government as the source of subsidies for each of the countries’ cells, which the department said makes it one of the first such affirmative findings for transnational subsidies.
