USTR proposes scaled-back port fees on Chinese ships

( April 17, 2025, 23:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: The US Trade Representative will impose port fees on ships owned, operated or made by China starting in 180 days, according to a press release and Federal Register notice. For Chinese operated and owned ships, the fee will be $50 per net tonnage and increase incrementally over the next three years, while Chinese built ships will start at $18 per net tonnage. After 180 days, $150 per car equivalent unit fees will also apply to other foreign-built car carrier vessels. And after three years, the US will apply restrictions to liquified natural gas vessels that will increase over 22 years.Statement follows below. See attached file....
