US tariff pause is important step for global economy, Von der Leyen says

( April 10, 2025, 07:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The 90-day pause on tariffs, announced yesterday by the US administration, is an “important step toward stabilizing the global economy,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said. The EU will remain “committed to constructive negotiations with the United States” to find a solution that avoids tariff escalation between the two sides, she said. Von der Leyen also said the EU would work on “diversifying its trade partnerships” and would continue efforts to lift trade barriers within the single market.Full statement follows....
