Thailand to work with TikTok, Meta to combat illegal online gambling

( October 7, 2026, 06:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand’s Digital Economy and Society Ministry plans to establish a working group to coordinate with digital platforms including TikTok and Meta Platforms to combat illegal online gambling, it said Tuesday. The group will collect and analyze reports from the public, coordinate with platforms on suspected gambling activity and share information with the Royal Thai Police for enforcement. The ministry said it also plans to work with search engines to proactively reduce access to gambling-related websites. In fiscal 2026, the ministry obtained court orders to block 835,207 URLs linked to online gambling, including 749,546 identified through proactive measures and 85,661 based on information from police. A further 109,868 URLs were blocked through cooperation with digital platforms, bringing the total to 945,075 URLs.Statement follows (in Thai)....
