Tech Oversight Project says US court's Google adtech order 'misguided'

( September 2, 2026, 16:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Tech Oversight Project condemned a remedy order by a US federal judge that rejected a government plea to break up Google's adtech business, while only imposing behavioral remedies. US District Judge Leonie Brinkema's order to let Google continue operating a "digital advertising monopoly that drives up the costs of everyday goods and services" is a "misguided decision," the advocacy group said. “With Big Tech continuing to suffocate new and innovative businesses from gaining traction, Judge Brinkema, like Judge [Amit] Mehta before her, is sending the wrong message at the wrong time. Big Tech monopolies are making our national affordability crisis even worse, and we should be denying monopolists the ill-gotten fruits of their monopolies, not rewarding them," the group said.Statement follows....
