French draft law sets social media minimum age at 15
( July 20, 2026, 18:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: France’s proposal for a social media ban for children under 15 was finalized by the national committee for culture on Monday. Following advice by the EU, the draft was rewritten to regulate the minors themselves — not the platforms — so as not to clash with the bloc’s digital rulebook. Besides the age limit, the committee also proposes new rules for schools, such as a restriction on phones on the premises.
