Streaming platforms would face same UK standards as TV under consultation plans
( May 14, 2026, 11:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and other streaming platforms would be subject to standards in the UK similar to broadcast television for the first time under new codes that the media regulator is consulting on until Aug. 7. The draft UK codes included in Ofcom's 12-week consultation would require platforms to have stronger safeguards on harmful content and privacy and accuracy standards for news content.
