Australian regulators coordinate on privacy, online safety

In a joint statement published on Thursday, the Australian eSafety Commissioner and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner said under a new Memorandum of Understanding, the two watchdogs will build on existing collaboration and coordinate regulatory responses to a growing number of issues where privacy and online safety intersect. Australian Information Commissioner Elizabeth Tydd said the MOU will support Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind’s work, strengthen monitoring of emerging online privacy risks and help both agencies carry out their functions under the Online Safety Act.Statement follows.
