The move follows government pressure on Meta Platforms to strengthen safeguards against harmful content, warning that false narratives — particularly on economic issues — could trigger panic, distort markets and undermine institutions. Officials said that Meta had responded to the government’s letter, indicating its platforms are committed to supporting efforts to combat disinformation.Three Philippine agencies signed an agreement on Monday to coordinate enforcement, communications and cybersecurity responses against online disinformation and AI-generated deepfakes, in what officials described as a “proactive defense” that preserves constitutionally protected speech while tightening scrutiny of digital platforms....
