( March 31, 2026, 00:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: More rights and controls for children including introducing a right to request destruction of their personal information are being proposed in Australia’s draft children’s privacy code, the regulator said. In a statement on Tuesday, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner said it has released an exposure draft of the Children’s Online Privacy Code developed following the passage of the 2024 Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act. The draft code proposes to introduce obligations including allowing direct marketing to children only with consent when it’s in the child’s best interest and notifying children when other users are tracking their geolocation on a service. The code will apply to online services including apps, games and websites that children use daily. The regulator is seeking feedback on the draft code for 60 days.Statement, draft code and short guide are attached....
