Germany aims to double data center capacity with newly adopted strategy

( March 18, 2026, 11:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The German government has said it intends to at least double its data center capacity — and to quadruple its capacity for AI and High-Performance Computing — through a new data center strategy adopted on Wednesday. The strategy lays out 28 measures, such as strengthening HPC and research networks, as well as strengthening secure cloud solutions for government AI.
