Indonesia publishes implementing rule on child protection in digital systems

( March 6, 2026, 10:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has published Ministerial Regulation No. 9 of 2026 implementing Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on child protection in electronic systems. The 63-article rule requires electronic system providers to establish age verification mechanisms and deactivate accounts of children under 16 on designated high-risk platforms. It mandates risk assessments to classify products, services and features as low or high risk, with results to be submitted to the ministry within three months of promulgation. The regulation also sets out supervisory powers, administrative sanctions and appeal procedures. The rule takes effect upon promulgation.The regulation is attached (in Indonesian)....
