Major companies face advance inspections in South Korea following data breaches in 2025

The move follows a series of data breaches last year affecting users at SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus, Coupang, and major credit card companies. The regulator plans to establish a legal basis for the inspections and introduce compulsory fines for non-compliance.  Major companies in South Korea in telecommunications, retail and other sectors whose services are closely tied to everyday lives will face preemptive inspections by the country’s privacy regulator this year....
