X faces Malaysia probe over AI misuse targeting women, minors

( January 5, 2026, 06:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, or MCMC, is investigating the misuse of artificial intelligence on X, where images of women and minors are digitally altered to create indecent or harmful content. In a statement over the weekend, the commission said such conduct breaches Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The MCMC also said it will summon X’s representatives and urges all platforms to implement safeguards under the Online Safety Act 2025. Users are advised to report harmful content to platforms, MCMC or the Royal Malaysia Police.Statement follows....
