Tech platforms' online safety risk mitigation examined in UK watchdog's report

( December 4, 2025, 10:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The regulator for the UK’s Online Safety Act has published a debut report on risk assessments conducted by platforms in response to the law’s duties on illegal content and children’s safety. Ofcom said in an accompanying statement that it had opened investigations into 92 online services and issued three fines; it said that more than half of the 100 most popular "adult services" in the UK have deployed age assurance as well as more mainstream services such as X, TikTok and Reddit. The regulator said research showed that 58 percent of parents believe its measures are already improving their children's safety online.Statement follows. The report is attached....
