( November 14, 2025, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The American Antitrust Institute and Committee to Support the Antitrust Laws told the US Supreme Court that the president does not wield unrestrained power to remove commissioners at will from the Federal Trade Commission. “If the Commission were to lose its independence as an antitrust enforcement body, its ability to police American markets would be undermined, hurting US credibility abroad and harming US businesses operating in foreign markets. Because it would amount to both bad law and bad policy, this court should decline petitioner’s invitation to read words into Article II that would upend Congress’s design,” they argued.
