European telcos call for ‘ambitious' EU regulatory framework enabling ‘scale’

( October 28, 2025, 14:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: European telecom executives have urged the European Commission to implement a “forward-looking and ambitious regulatory framework” that would enable operators to gain scale, and that would “recognize” the link between scale and investment. The letter to Ursula von der Leyen expressed “serious concern that the bold reforms urgently needed to secure Europe’s digital future are being placed at risk by slow and timid actions” from the commission. It was signed by chief executives from the likes of BT, Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Vodafone, and industry groups GSMA and Connect Europe. Statement follows....
