Apple takes aim at 'onerous, intrusive' gatekeeper rules in EU court hearing

By Lewis Crofts ( October 21, 2025, 10:14 GMT | Insight) -- Apple told EU judges on Tuesday that the bloc's rules on digital "gatekeepers" had gone too far in trampling on the company's intellectual property and that EU investigators had wrongly lumped all of its App Stores together as a single platform subject to strict conditions. The European Commission said many of the arguments in Apple's appeal were "inadmissible" and that the Digital Markets Act rightly opened up its "walled garden." The EU institutions that agreed the DMA also intervened to defend the legislation as proportionate.  Apple told EU judges on Tuesday that the bloc's rules to identify digital "gatekeepers" had gone too far in trampling on the company's intellectual property and that EU investigators had wrongly lumped all of its App Stores together as a single platform subject to strict conditions....
