Clearview AI sees court back UK privacy regulator in jurisdiction fight

By Patricia Figueiredo ( October 8, 2025, 16:20 GMT | Insight) -- Clearview AI's data processing is under the scope of UK privacy laws, a court in London has ruled, and the UK privacy regulator does have jurisdiction to enforce fines against the US-based facial recognition firm. Clearview is fighting a £7.5 million fine imposed in 2022 by the Information Commissioner's Office for breaking the UK GDPR, and the ruling sends the case back to a lower court for a full hearing. Clearview said it would appeal the jurisdiction ruling, however.Clearview AI has lost a key jurisdiction fight against the UK privacy regulator, with judges ruling that the US-based facial-recognition company's data processing is within the scope of UK law....
