US FTC calls injunction halting Media Matters investigation 'unprecedented'

( August 21, 2025, 20:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission filed a reply brief in support of its motion for a stay pending appeal of the injunction halting its civil investigatory demand to Media Matters as it investigates potential antitrust violations in advertising boycotts. The injunction is "unprecedented" on the threshold issues and the merits of the lawsuit because it "completely overlooks the basic investigative steps that must be undertaken before an enforcement action is filed, including the meet-and-confer process that the FTC undertakes in an attempt to narrow or resolve the issues in dispute," the FTC said.See attached document....
