Social media still main source of pornography for children, UK report warns

( August 19, 2025, 10:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Social media platforms remain the main source of pornography exposure for children, with X identified as the most common source, surpassing dedicated porn sites, according to a new research report by the Children’s Commissioner for England. The data, collected weeks before UK regulator Ofcom’s children’s codes came into force, show that 45 percent of children who saw porn online encountered it on X, compared to 35 percent on porn platforms. In 2023, the gap between the two sources was just 4 percentage points. While most children were exposed to porn by accident, the report still urged the government to mandate age verification for VPNs, to prevent young users from bypassing porn sites’ age checks.Report attached. ...
