EU telecom CEOs call on European Commission to allow mergers, remove regulations

( July 24, 2025, 05:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The chief executives of 20 European telecom companies, including BT Group and Orange, have urged the European Commission to change the EU's approach to mergers and allow more market consolidation. They also called for a "general shift" from ex-ante regulation of wholesale access markets to a competition-based approach. They said ex-ante rules, which may include price controls for companies with "significant market power" or dominance, should be replaced with "ex-post" competition law and the Gigabit Infrastructure Act.Letter is attached....
