YouTube to raise minimum age for livestreaming from 13 to 16

( July 22, 2025, 08:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Video-sharing platform YouTube is raising the minimum age required for its users to livestream to 16 years old, from the present 13. The online safety change, effective from today, will also see the “live chat” function disabled on livestreams featuring people aged 13-15 who aren’t visibly accompanied by an adult, and such an account may temporarily lose access to certain features. In the future, these livestreams may be taken down entirely, and the account may temporarily lose its ability to livestream, YouTube said.Statement follows....
