US lithium-sulfur battery manufacturer Lyten acquires Northvolt's largest plant

( July 1, 2025, 10:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lyten, a U.S.-based leader in lithium-sulfur battery technology, will acquire Northvolt’s Dwa ESS facility, the largest battery energy storage system, or BESS, manufacturing plant in Europe, located in Gdansk, Poland. BESS is the fastest-growing segment of the battery market, said Lyten, driven by rising demand from AI data centers and both the European and US power grids. The acquisition will expand Lyten’s manufacturing capacity and accelerate its lithium-sulfur batteries' deployment in the European market, the company said. Such batteries can operate at higher temperatures and only require low-cost abundant materials. Full press release follows:...
