AliExpress found in breach of EU Digital Services Act over illegal product risks

( June 18, 2025, 08:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Online retail platform AliExpress has breached the EU’s Digital Services Act in relation to its obligation to assess and mitigate risks linked to the dissemination of illegal products, the European Commission said in preliminary findings published today. In the same investigation, opened in March 2024, the commission identified six additional potential violations, for which it issued a commitment decision. That means the company has voluntarily agreed to a set of binding commitments effective from today. AliExpress now has access to the commission’s investigation file and can respond to the findings. If the preliminary conclusions are confirmed, the company could face a fine. Statement attached....
