Apple warns Australia against 'sideloading,' third-party payments

In its submission to the government on proposed ex ante rules to regulate digital platforms, seen by MLex, Apple said that the proposed “service-specific obligations for app marketplaces rest on mistaken assumptions and present risks for Australian consumers and businesses.”Allowing the practice of “sideloading” would pose significant risks to user security, privacy and safety, and allowing third-party payments on Apple’s iOS operating systems is unlikely to bring any proven procompetitive benefit, the iPhone maker said....
