Alphabet workers union asks US court for anti-retaliation provisions in Google remedy order

( May 9, 2025, 17:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Alphabet Workers Union-CWA, a minority union engaged in organizing workers at Alphabet including its subsidiary Google, asked a US federal court to include robust protections in a ruling over remedies to be imposed on Google for an illegal monopoly in the Internet search market. The AWU-CWA asked the court to include protections to prevent retaliation against workers and to protect worker concerted activity. "Google has a track record of suppressing worker speech. Discussion of some topics, like antitrust and unfair competition, have been explicitly prohibited. In other areas, the company has retaliated against workers who raise concerns about the company’s employment and business practices," the amicus brief, filed at the US District Court for the District of Columbia, said.See attached document....
