Orange, Deutsche Telekom seek ‘full availability’ of upper 6GHz band

( May 7, 2025, 16:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A group of 12 European mobile operators including Orange, Deutsche Telekom and Telefónica has told European officials that it's critical that the entirety of a spectrum band needed for high-speed Internet connectivity is made available to mobile networks. The upper 6 gigahertz band (6.425-7.125 GHz) is fiercely contested between cellular and Wi-Fi providers. The companies said that "any future 6G services in this band would be significantly curtailed and ultimately jeopardize Europe’s opportunity to play a leading role in 6G deployment" if the "full availability" of the band isn't granted to them.
