DPP Law fined in UK for breach of clients’ data after cyberattack

( April 16, 2025, 11:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: DPP Law, based in northwestern England, has been fined 60,000 pounds (around $80,000) by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, for failing to protect its clients’ data from cyberattacks. The ICO’s penalty notice, published today, pointed out that personal data from DPP Law’s clients was posted on the dark web after a hacker attack in June 2022. Because this firm specializes in crime, the military, family fraud and sexual offenses, the ICO found that highly sensitive and confidential personal information had been leaked. DPP Law had failed to ensure it is properly protected by a robust cybersecurity framework, the ICO said.Statement follows. Penalty notice attached....
