Japan takes steps to regulate AI amid growing public concerns, global trends

( February 5, 2025, 03:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Japanese government panel has finalized its proposals for new legislation to regulate artificial intelligence, amid rising public concerns about AI-mediated frauds and scams. Taking into account national security risks and actions by other jurisdictions also, the AI strategy panel's interim report recommends introducing legislation to oversee AI model and system developers, AI service providers, and users. It calls for mandatory cooperation from domestic and international companies during investigations of serious incidents.
