Thailand's draft digital platform economy act published for comment

( January 20, 2025, 10:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand has published for comment its draft Digital Platform Economy Act, which will impose additional requirements on designated “gatekeepers” and other very large online platforms beyond those for smaller online platform services. For gatekeepers or entrenched providers of core platform services — such as search engines, social networking, video-sharing, cloud computing and online advertising — the draft imposes several additional obligations related to transparency and fairness. Very large online platforms, defined as those with annual revenue exceeding 1 billion baht or more than 6 million users per month, also have additional reporting, content moderation and tracking responsibilities.
