Potential TikTok ban scrutinized by US Supreme Court as deadline approaches

TikTok’s lawyer clarified that the law means TikTok “goes dark” on Jan. 19 unless the Supreme Court acts. With TikTok’s lawyer telling the nine justices the social media platform used by half the US population will “go dark” in nine days unless they intervene, the US Supreme Court today faced down an unprecedented First Amendment decision it must make in a scant few days that reflects how data privacy and security issues have increasingly crossed over into national security concerns....
