Apple's intervention in Google search remedy trial would prejudice DOJ, states, US court told

( January 10, 2025, 00:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice and a multi-state coalition led by Colorado told a District of Columbia federal judge that Apple should not be allowed to intervene in the remedy phase of government's search monopolization trial. In opposing Apple's motion to intervene, the DOJ and states told the US District Court for the District of Columbia that permitting intervention would not just prejudice the plaintiffs but also likely delay proceedings further. Apple's motion cites no precedent for intervention at the remedies stage where a party has been explicitly involved from the start, the DOJ said. “Apple’s motion — coming more than four years after Plaintiffs filed their lawsuit, more than four months after the Court’s liability decision, in the midst of expedited discovery, and mere months before the remedies trial — is both untimely and unnecessary given Google’s representation of its combined interests in this litigation,” the filing said.See attached documents...
